Pradedushka

In my boyhood I found the tape at my grandparents’
apartment. This was the recording of the speech
of my grandfather’s father Mikhail Fyodorovich
Konzhiev, the peasant and the hunter. He lived
in the village Korchagino nearby the village
Karshevo, Pudozhsky district, Karelia. On the tape
I found several poems by Mikhail Fyodorovich,
recorded by my grandfather around forty years ago.
Except for creating poems, Mikhail Fyodorovich
was the actor of local Public Theater in Pudozh.

The first poem is about the village. The narrator
describes how he comes back from the city to his
village where he used to live many years ago.
The village disappeared and the narrator starts
sharing his memories about the life of the village
in old days.

The second poem is about the hunt. The narrator
bids a farewell to the forest and hunting which
was destiny for his whole life.

NB: Year 2010 me and my friends went hiking to
the mountains of Kandalaksha Gulf of the White Sea .
I recorded on tape the sounds of that trip and the
improvisations that we made there. Those sounds can
be heard on the background of this recording.
