about

CAA-21 ALEXEY GRACHEV(RU)

METEOSTANCIYA 1 is an atmosphere-sound converter.
It is designed by Russian media-artist Alexey Grachev
to provide information on the changes in environment in the
absence of the visual control over the area.
It generates sounds based on the input data such as
atmospheric pressure, humidity, temperature, etc.

This environmental installation was first developed by the artist
for the World Event Young Artists festival in Nottingham, the UK
in 2012.

With Weather Station No.1 the artist tried to answer,
what understanding of the world around the data threads
interpretation could bring to us?
Using the atmospheric information from different sensors
as a compositional basis, this work explored the subliminal
poetics of space.
Algorithmic music, composed with the certain sets of rules
from these continuous processes, evolved all the time.
Visitors are encouraged to come back to the installation
to see these changes.
