Neural Module

The signals of 64 nanoelectrodes, which were covered by the layer of striatal and cerebral cortex cells, were recorded in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Roach (Loughborough University, UK) as a data array for further structuring and study. Using different software and hardware solutions, data was converted to electrical signals allowing to control oscillators, filters, envelope generators and other modules of Eurorack system. During the recording of the presented tracks, the modules were combined into variuos functional blocks, at the output of which one or another sound appeared.

The project was initiated in the framework of ART/SCI NEXUS platform, that was organized by curator Candace Goodrich and biochemist John LaCava, and became the result of collaboration with Paul Roach, Alexander Kagansky and Chamberlab duo (Anton Koch & Mark Matthes). It was supported by Global Young Academy.

Recorded, mixed and mastered by S. Kostyrko in January 2019.
