about

CAA-15 GEORGE
BAGDASAROV (EARTH)

"What I do, I do as a nomad.
I don't just move from place
to place, but also from one
field to the next.
And sometimes I discover new
pastures where I stay awhile."

Improviser and
multi-instrumentalist
George Bagdasarov's work
for CAA is characterized
by dense sheets of saxophone
that present a similar approach
as loop-based music while
being recorded in single
performance takes with
no overdubs.
One can find quiet sections
which are even more tense,
as the tapping of the pads
against the tone holes and
blowing of Bagdasarov himself
both add to the piece.
Bagdasarov lets it all hang
out here on his uncompromising
records and the result is
something that floats somewhere
between warble and minimal howl,
with baritone saxophone
and human breathing.
George has exceptional and
challenging blend of elements
of jazz, modern composition,
and even aspects of repetition
and textural drone found
in certain branches
of electronic music.

An inquisitive listener meets
nomad George who explores
scorched landscapes and
celestial scenes alike
with his limitless playing.
